Markku Heikinheimo (b.1948) first began studying the organ privately and later at the Sibelius Academy with Folke Forsman and then with Enzio Forsblom, receiving his Organ Diploma in 1974. Later that year, he gave his debut recital at Finlandia Hall, and continued his studies through several stints in Paris with Marie-Claire Alain. Markku Heikinheimo has appeared in solo recitals and as a soloist with orchestras in Finland and abroad.  Since 1981, he has been a Lecturer in Organ Music at the Sibelius Academy. He is also responsible of the Finlandia Hall organ, and has been the producer of the Finlandia Hall organ concerts. From 1981 to 1985 he was the Chairman of the Finnish Organum Society. He has published articles and textbooks on the art of the organ, particularly on its history, and has released three recordings, The Finlandia Hall Organ (Fuga 2003), Lars Karlsson: Works for Organ (Naxos 2007) and J.S.Bach: Orgelbüchlein (Siba Records 2010).
