OPUS KLASSIK prizewinner Andreas Sieling has been the cathedral organist at the large Sauer organ in Berlin Cathedral since 2005. Numerous concert tours have taken him to almost all European countries, the USA, Canada and Russia (before 2022). He is also regularly involved in CD, radio and film recordings as well as TV broadcasts. He also provides musical support for contemporary video art projects (Julia Stoschek Foundation).
The publication of scholarly works and the publication of unknown 19th century romantic music round off his versatile musical activities. Since 1999, Sieling has been teaching artistic organ playing as well as performance practice, organ literature studies and organ methodology at the Berlin University of the Arts, where he was appointed professor. He also gives masterclasses in Germany and abroad, works as an organ expert and is in demand as a juror at competitions. In 2020 he was awarded the title of Kirchenmusikdirektor.
Since 2015, Andreas Sieling has been performing together with actor Ben Becker, for whose most successful play „I, Judas“ he conceived and regularly performs the music. The almost 200 performances to date alone have brought a quarter of a million people into contact with organ music. The new joint project „Death Duel“ with texts by John Donne and Joseph Brodsky will premiere in November 2024.
In March 2017, he began „Das Bach-Projekt“in Berlin Cathedral. For the first time, he performed the organ works of Johann Sebastian Bach on the large Sauer organ. The series comprised 15 concerts and deliberately began on Bach’s birthday in the anniversary year of the Reformation and ended for the „Year of the Organ“ in December 2021.
