Jonas Lundblad is a musicologist and an organ recitalist. He is an associate professor in historical musical aesthetics in the Åbo Academy University and a research fellow in the Department of Musicology at Uppsala University. His academic work broadly concerns aesthetics, performance and historical musicology in Western European music from 1800. Olivier Messiaen is a focal area in his research. In 2024, Jonas finishes a monograph for the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities on the history and aesthetics of Swedish church music since 1800.

As a musician, Jonas serves as organist at the renowned Romantic Åkerman & Lund organ in Västerås cathedral and is an active recitalist and recording artist. Solo concerts and cooperation with orchestras and choirs have taken him to many countries across Europe and North America. Messiaen forms a central part of his repertoire, which has resulted in two concert series of the complete organ works. An ongoing series of conceptual albums with the label Caprice music presents neglected fields of Swedish organ culture, based on new archival research, and has been received with great critical acclaim. Jonas also widens the repertoire by commissioning new compositions and undertakes scholarly consultancy for editions of previously unavailable works.
